Nowhere in the rulebook am I able to find a concise explanation for the values contained in each area's register on the game map, so I'd like to be certain that I've got it figured out.

Switzerland's register, for instance, states:

246R RC -3 (0)

As I understand it, these values are:

246R = Language
RC = Religion
-3 = Population
(0) = Default Social Status

Is this correct? If so, what does the "R" in the language value mean?

You have it correct.

The R is redundant, it just means Roman Catholic, as the RC does. Same for the E (EC -Eastern Orthodox) and P (Pagan).

Got this on the table right now, getting ready to play. It kind of boggled me that there was no key to the register in the rule book. Yeah, I could kind of figure it out from remarks here and there, but that seems pretty gimpy. Thanks for this explanation.
