I had a game once when I was like 11 or maybe 10 and ALL I remember is that it had these small cavemen-ish plastic figurines (like the soldiers from Toy story but smaller). If I'm not mistaken some were orange, some blue and the board game had some mountains but I don't remember if they were attached and part of the carton or if they were seperate pieces that you put there.

I never learned how to play it and no one around me even tried
so I threw it out, now years later I'm looking for it.

Welcome to BGG!

What time period are we talking about... 1970s? 1980s? 1990s?

Firstly, Welcome

Secondly, I don't like that you are young. You were 10 in 2000 who are you Judge Dredd?!?

Thirdly, I'll start the bidding just to bump and get the ball rolling:

I give you the 1993 game, Die Schlacht der Dinosaurier, yes it has figures that could be thought of as cavemen and yes it has a mountain... but it also looks unforgettable and includes ridable dinosaurs. It also came out when you were 3 Dredd.

I'll keep thinking.

Four, Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs yes it does have dinosaurs but boy do the explores look like the 'toy story soldiers' and some are orange and there are mountains.

Give us an update...

Don't worry, you just made him realized his age.

Yup forgive the slightly lazy attempt at humour .

I'm afraid Ant I think you have me beat.... hopefully someone will pop in soon with an answer. Perhaps you could try asking family members if they remember anything else about the game.

Here is the category for prehistoric, try looking through this for it:

Good luck

Possibly Caveman? (although it's got dinosaurs as well as cave men, and I expect you would remember the dinosaurs).
