Is there anything that's come out so far in 2011 that's being received really well and that you personally think is a really good game?

Airlines europe has been excellent so far. Eminent domain isn't out yet, but through many plays of a pnp copy I can state that it is excellent as well.

For the general consensus of the best of 2011 (thus far) check out the following geeklist:

The 2011 Top Ranked Games (January 18, 2012 Update)

For me I've enjoyed Nightfall, Mondo and Ascending Empires.

Only played it a couple times, but have really enjoyed Lancaster. Seems like multiple paths to victory, good player interaction, and some fun combos.

For some reason it hasn't soared in the rankings like, say, Alien Frontiers. For me personally, it's the best new game I've played this year and I think will surpass the likes of AF in the long term. And I like AF a lot. I just think it's been elevated quickly due to hype more than quality of play.

-1 for Secret of Monte Cristo. Beautiful board and bits, but the theme totally screws with the Monte Cristo story and the gameplay is just a mishmash of different actions that don't add up to much. Wanted to love it, but I can't.

My favorites so far from this year are Die Burgund von Burgundy, Pantheon, Airlines Europe, and Lancaster.

Might be because it is a reimplement of a game that many already own; some considering it was at one time a grail game. So, you will have the popular, "I refuse to buy a game I already have", people, and the people who want the original version or one of the in-between versions.
And of course, the "I've played this years ago (minus a few tweaks) and got bored of it then, so why get a new version of it?" people.
Add those up, and a lot of the bgg members are included in it.
I want the Union Pacific version since I already own Jet Set.
So, you must include me in there and those like me. Themes do matter, and too much of one can push away a game from table-time.
