This is sad to hear, while the re-make for "The In-Laws" with Michael Douglas & Albert Brooks was also nicely 'comported'...

People forget that Falk wasn't just a great comic actor, but a great actor period. He was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a vicious crook in Murder, Inc. For a while there, he pretty much stole every movie he appeared in. One of my favorites. Sad to hear they finally had to close his other eye.

The last time that I trusted a dame was in Paris in 1940. She said she was going out to get a bottle of wine. Two hours later, the Germans marched into France.

Sad to hear it. Not only the Princess Bride, but I recall him in Wim Wender's Wings of Desire - he was excellent in it.

Princess Bride is my favourite movie and I always remember him as the supposedly bumbling detective in Columbo.

RIP Mr Falk.

In copier sales, I'd do the Columbo exit on cold calls when I ran into a non-communicative receptionist. After being told bluntly that they weren't interested, I'd turn to go then turn back and say something like, "I'm sorry, what brand are you using now?" as if they told me once and I missed it. Most of the time they'd blurt out a name which sometimes led to an opening for an extended conversation. If nothing else I could add that info to my data base

One of my associates performed what our boss called the "Columbo demo." He'd go through the demonstration and stop as if he were finished. Just when the prospect would start to ask a question, Dean would say, "Just one more thing..." and demonstrate another feature. This was not considered to be a good demo technique.
