While playing the German version of M&M yesterday I noticed that Captain Marquis' stats were 4/2/2/2.
I was quite sure, however, that I read somewhere, that he was the only one with a Seamanship of 4, but was handicapped by his very sub-par Leadership of 1 in boarding battles (also his total stats sum up to 9 instead of 10 with most other Captains). Just confirmed this here at the geek.

How does this change come about now: Was it intentional due to balance reasons or could the game author not resist to make this extraordinaily handsome pirate even more manly and powerful?
Or is it simply a mere typo?

Interesting - in an unfortunate way. Thanks for pointing it out. It seems someone noticed my German hieratage and found such a poor Leadership to be unrealistic.

On a more serious note it is definately a misprint. I don't know how or why, but it is not on purpose.

[edited out my irrelevant speculations]

Thanks for finding the error.

Lets hope that there are not more out-of-date files in the expansion. I could check on my own later when playing the game, but: has the german version (or any other language version / 2nd print of english version) the errata of the FAQ in it?

Christian told them to put him at a leadership of 1, but like any poor leader he was blown off and they printed as 2

If you can read this, then this sentence is false.

Were there any other last-minute changes? If so, it might be a good idea for somebody with a German copy to check those and make sure they're correct.

No. Nothing as 'last minute' as far as I recall. But keep in mind that it has been almost a year since the english version went to print. So any misprint is simply an unfortunate coincidence/mistake.

Mostly very good, and Pegasus even seems to have someone who cares for spelling and punctuation (I have seen horrible examples in other games, like WoW). Some of the FAQs also seem to have found their way into the rules.

However (and please consider this a minor issue, because it is nothing more), IMHO the translator could use some professional training, he is weak on specialist terms and resorts to literal translations when encountering one he has no idea about ("Kanonenhauptmann", my ass); this is defintely a beginner's error for translators.
