Hey guys, I'm not too sure if anything like this has been experimented with before. If it has, sorry! Anyway here it goes.

When a player reaches 5 colonies to win the game, the game continues for one full round, giving each other player one last turn.

This round, players draw the destiny card as per normal, though are allowed to redraw if they get a special destiny. They attack the system colour that is drawn, but may choose to attack the winning colour/player's colonies in that system to knock them back down to 4. A succesful attack does NOT give you a colony however. Knocking the winner down is good enough.

This round consists of only 1 encounter per player. A second encounter is only awarded to the one that knocks the winning player(s) down. If at the end of the round, anyone still remains at 5 colonies, those players retain their victory.

A player sharing a victory may choose to attack one of the other players who reached 5 for some nice backstabbing action. Winning players on the defense may only ask for allies from other winning players. Players on the offense may only ask for allies from the system that they picked.

As soon as there are no players left at 5 colonies, play resumes as normal.

I know this rule can stretch the game quite long. I do think it makes people wary of the cards they have when going for a win however, considering they have to defend quite a bit. Also, shared wins may lead to betrayals too.

Anyway, hope to get some feedback!

It's tough enough to get 5 colonies. By the time someone does it, while the losers feel that pang of losing, all in good fun, everyone is usually relieved the game is over with already. The winner has that thrill of winning. This takes that away. This also takes away the joy from powers like Sniveler and Plant using their Super Flares. Plus, it's unfair to players who do not have a power with an alternate win condition, like Masochist, Sadist, Tick Tock, and Genius.
