So I am still new to the site for posting and was wondering what the big deal is with people talking about all the yhatzee dice they are collecting?

Hi Todd - welcome to BGG. I have never seen such a discussion, so I'm not sure. Can you post a link?

While I haven't seen the exact discussion you're talking about, some people do buy thrifted copies of yahtzee jr. because it includes indented dice. These indented dice are useful for making print-and-play games that require custom dice because you can print labels for them. A couple of popular games that people make with these dice include Chunky Fighters and RoboDerby: Express.

And welcome to BGG .
