I need to expand this area of my collection to enhance our gaming sessions. I own Battlestar Galactica and Railroad Tycoon and 6 player Settlers. Looking for something that is not too heavy but still has some depth. Ideally not overly abstract or purely a wargame (although plenty of confrontation is fine). Our group spans from super serious geeks to less serious geeks, but all of us are gamers. I've played and enjoyed Power Grid, so that's a possibility, but what are the other gems out there for this size group?

Showmanager is by far my favorite game for 6. It may not have quite enough depth for you, but there is more to it than you might think at first.

We play with 6 quite a bit. Our favorites, in order are:

7 Wonders (but this is never our "main game" of the evening)
Age of Empires III (with 6th player pieces)
Medici
Railroad Tycoon
Bootleggers (really underrated 6 player strategy game)
Tribune + Expansion
Revolution + Expansion
Eketorp
Union Pacific (Airlines Europe only plays 5)
Citadels
Lifeboats

Powers:Coleridge:Milton: Faith...must be, if anything, a clear-eyed recognition of the patterns and tendencies, to be found in every piece of the world's fabric, which are the lineaments of God.

That's Tim Powers' fictional Samuel Coleridge "quoting" John Milton in _The Anubis Gates_.

Have a look at my game Medieval Mastery; it may be just what you're looking for! It is a very fun, tactical game of medieval conquest, is very easy to learn, accommodates 2-6 players, has a great replay value and plays in under an hour. The first edition copies of the game are currently available though it is also looking good for a much wider release leading into the new year.

I just finished a 6-player game of Arkham Horror and it was great. If you enjoy cooperative games, think about this one.

Here's a few great games that all play well with 6...

7 Wonders
Arkham Horror
Twilight Imperium (third edition)
Citadels
Railroad Tycoon/Railways of the World
Dixit
Acquire
Roborally
Age of Steam
Bohnanza
Imperial
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game
Shadows over Camelot
For Sale
Steam

Lots of variety in there from really simple games to much more complex "gamers" type games.. but all are solid games.
