Hi,

I recently picked up Crusoe's Planet

It wont be winning any awards for components but at its core I enjoy the game.

The mechanics of the game could be described as a snakes and ladders game. Roll a die and get the resources from where you land. Add a trading phase at the end and you basically have the game.

But this is only 1/4 of the game, layered on top of the core rules are Economic Philosophies. For example how do you do if you use a socialistic economic model on top of the core rules? How does it compare if you add the Capitalism Model?

So what this game does is has a very basic set of rules and layers different what-if scenarios on top. I have not seen this in other games.

Any suggestions of other games that use this mechanic?

Thanks

Hans

I don't have the rules nor can I find them on BGG, but...

Generically gaining resources after random die roll + trading afterwards = Catan

Jeff,

Thanks for the quick reply. But I think you missed my point.

I am looking for a game that has a core mechanic and plays different with layered rules ontop.

The fun of Crusoe's Planet is you can see which economic model is most successful compared to others.

Regards

Hans
