I agree. I can't vote until you give some fram as for what it can be used for.

This is like asking what do you like better, Star Wars or Hamburgers?

Yeah I was surprised to see D&D in the list.

If you can edit the poll try removing D&D and adding Warhammer Quest, DungeonQuest.. and am not sure the following considered Dungeon Crawl games: Doom, Mansions of Madness, Claustrophobia.

There's a new title (not sure if released or not) Chaostle, another dungeon crawler.

I'm sure I missed a lot.

I agree with the above comments. Not really comparing apples to apples here. Runebound is a fine game too, but definitely not a "dungeon" theme. Maybe the poll question wording didn't come out as intended?

That's easy. Definitely Star Wars. Now if you'd said cheeseburgers...

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

I think Dorn should be on that list as well. Given Runebound (Second Edition) is on the list I think it would only be fair to add Talisman (Revised 4th Edition), Prophecy, maybe Cutthroat Caverns, Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord, the classic Dungeon!, and Tomb

Just weighing in on the "other" category.

I dunno. I haven't played it, but it seems like 4e is more like a board/mini game than it is like AD&D 2nd and 1st eds.

There seems to be something wrong with the poll on my computer - the entry for Warhammer Quest isn't showing up.

For role-playing, I quite enjoyed the original D&D as long as you had the Supplement I: Greyhawk and Supplement II: Blackmoor, and for me things went downhill from there.... I dallied with RuneQuest (2nd Edition) for a while and then got seduced by Call of Cthulhu (2nd Edition) which of course includes a lot of dungeons!

For boardgames, I have and enjoy all of those listed and couldn't pick between them; HeroQuest is great for introducing new players, Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game and Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of Ashardalon Board Game see a lot of table time as they solo well, whereas I fiddle with Descent: Journeys in the Dark but have never persuaded anyone to actually play it!

Having said that, I guess that the most entertaining and elegant of my dungeon games is Claustrophobia, which is the single one I would take to a desert island.

As you haven't said that these dungeon games actually have to be fantasy, I would also make a strong argument for Doom: The Boardgame, which I prefer to Descent, and the classic dungeon game of them all, Space Hulk!

Cheers,

Matt

I don't have a problem mixing board games and RPGs. I prefer Song of Gold and Darkness or NetHack.
