Wow! over $51K in total, thanks everyone for the support.

If you missed it, our kickstarter campaign is over and the game is well on its way to print. Pre-orders are now open at: http://www.indieboardsandcards.com/fpfr.php - don't forget this is going to make a great Christmas present!

Read all about the $45K challenge at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2012515236/flash-point-f...

We just launched a kickstarter project for our latest game - Flash Point: Fire Rescue. The game is a fun, fast and exciting cooperative by Kevin Lanzing. Kevin did a small, self published printing of the game last year that caught attention for the innovative mechanics and engaging game play. In the past several months we have been working with Kevin and over 20 different playtesting groups to further refine and develop the game into something that I truly believe you will enjoy. Final artwork is almost done, and looking very attractive. All we need now is a little extra boost to get us over the top and cover expenses that we need to get this game labeled for 10+ age group - those new lead testing laws are very expensive.

The kickstarter page is here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2012515236/flash-point-f...

UPDATE
Thanks everyone for blowing out the numbers so quickly almost $6k in two days! I really appreciate all the support, and I hope that you are all excited to try this game out.

UPDATE - We hit the $15K Challenge level, and now everyone that contributes at the $45 level or above will get a mounted bonus, promo game board!

Now my challenge to you is to help spread the word and drive the project funding up to $30,000!!! If we meet that that everyone at the $45 level or above will get a bonus set of Fire-Man-Meeples for each copy of the game that they order! So keep the work up and spread the word!

Skip ahead to 2min in the video for actual game play.

Also side note, I'm actually working on a firefighting game myself as well, it's funny how a few mechanics overlap.

Good luck Travis!

*Halfway there less than 12 hours later! Nice!

I've had the privilege of playing a prototype copy, and I am really excited about this game! The theme is extremely well integrated, with lots of interesting details in the gameplay.

We've played it 2p, and it was great. If you like other coops (Pandemic, Forbidden Island, etc) with 2p, then you'll probably like this one 2p.

With 2P you could each play as 2 Firemen as if it were a 4P game in order to get more "Specialists" in the game. I played it solo as a 4P and it worked great! Really enjoying this one. thumbsup

That's what I wanted to hear. My gaming group doesn't play many co-ops, but my wife and I enjoy them.

I'm interested in hearing about how it is different from other co-ops that I've played. It seems different enough from Pandemic, which I really like--does it feel different? It seems to share some elements with Red November, which I didn't really care for.

It has a similar feeling to Pandemic, in that there's a push to save something from destruction. Pandemic has more card shuffling, whereas Flash Point doesn't rely on cards, and there's the added level of saving victims, so you have to decide whether to deal with the fire first, or try to get the victims out of there. In Flash Point, you can bank action points, so you can save up for a big turn at a crucial moment.

Pandemic has different levels of difficulty in how many cards you add into the deck, but Flash Point has a simpler version for learning the game, and a version with bells and whistles to add more dangers but also more options for dealing with them.

Re: Indie Boards and Cards needs your support for Flash Point: Fire Rescue
Note I am the publisher, so take this for what it is worth.

one of the suggestions that cmae up in playtesting the game was the ability to switch roles during the game. That was a great suggestion, in that it allows a player to have multiple specialist roles over the course of a game.

This helps create strategic decisions on what roles you need at different points in the game, as well as how and when to change specialists.

Tactically the use of dice rather than cards makes it so there isn't one best thing to do on your turn, the counterpoint is that the game has more of an ameritrash feel than the puzzly feel that Pandemic has. In Flash Point you can have a string of good luck, resulting in an easier game, or a long string of bad luck in a single turn that will doom you to a fiery death.

Personally I like that feeling of dreading to see what fate has in store for me when the game is on the line. I know some do not,

Consistent feedback has been that Flash Point: Fire Rescue has a much more tangible theme than Pandemic, making it a more approachable game for non/casual gamers.

Ooooh.... that's a great idea Travis! That way no one feels "stuck" having to do their one role the whole game, making the game more fun, imho.

I have done some informal polls for extra items that you'd like to see, and it seems that mounting the promo maps is a hot item - as is making that bonus map double sided. Well perhaps a little know fact is that I was planning for the game to come with a double side map in the box - its pretty secret right now, but I will be posting pictures soon!. And while its not fully designed, I know what the bonus map is going to be. But I am not ready right now for a double sided bonus map.

So my challenge to you is to help spread the word and drive the project funding up to $15,000. I'll get the team working on developing a double sided, mounted promo board. If we hit that $15K target, anyone that contributes at the $45 level or higher will get this promo item as a substitute for the paper promo map - no extra charges.

The Kickstarter funding is almost halfway to the magic $15K. Don't sit on the fence with this one, the promos as they stand are enough to pledge $45. These promos will not come in-the-box as they are exclusive for Kickstarters, but if it can reach $15K the publisher says that the promo paper board will be mounted (and possibly double sided). That is a lot of game for a small investment. Come on, let's get this project funded to $15K... I really want my promo board to be mounted whistle

Excellent news. Now over the halfway mark.

Be aware that if you're pledging support at the $35 level you will miss out on the promo board (mounted if pledging reaches $15K). It's only $10 more to get the promo board and scenario book.

I'm looking at that $70 mark with the free copy of Haggis and The Resistance. Awesome! But I may just go pick up the Resistance in a store instead so I can start playing. I just got to find out if the two extra games are shipped to me right away or if I have to wait for them so that everything is shipped at once. Does anyone know? Has anyone tried it?

Re: Indie Boards and Cards thanks you for your support and announces the $15K Flash Point: Fire Rescue Challenge
I think they would be all shipped at once, as when you pledge via Kickstarter the publisher does not get any monies until the deadline date. Before the deadline date, pledger's are still free to change their pledge total. This means that if the publisher shipped before the deadline they would not have any monies and would have to ship taking the risk that the pledger didn't drop their pledge value.

I have not played The Resistance although I have seen it being played and it seems an enjoyable game. Haggis I do own and is a really good card game. We enjoy this game a lot. The production quality from this small publisher is incredible though, so I expecting Flash Point to build on that quality.

Thanks, Jonathan. I'm definitely going to submit $45, and probably one of the higher contributions. I have to decide whether I want extra copies of the other two games (because I'll have likely bought them already) or an extra copy of Flash Point. Thanks again!

One of the things that I like about this Kickstarter project is that one can pledge an amount and have a copy of the game shipped to their local fire station as a thank you gift to those that protect them (as well as getting a copy for themselves along with some cool exclusive promo stuff). Perfect for firefighters on duty to pass some time, and who knows a firefighter might become a regular game player.

I am not sure what happens if the game is delayed.

Travis is wanting to have this out by Essen and I hope he meets his deadline. However, Travis is experienced with Kickstarter programs and so it should not be a problem.

The quality of previous releases from Indie Boards and Cards have been exceptional and judging by those releases I expect this title will be exceptional too (not only in quality, but also in gameplay).

We have now passed the $10K mark - only $5K left to get that mounted extra board!
