When I first got on this forum I could see tons of shogi threads. After registering I can't find any so I am aware this is probably the wrong place for this. Recently I've learned how to play shogi. It's a fun game and all but I'm kinda stuck. I play it on a app for iPod called morita shogi. The on the lowest difficulty it is laughably easy. You can take all the pieces the enemy has, not lose any yourself, and checkmate the king with little to no resistance. The next level up, "beginner" on the other hand is insanely hard. The computer uses a crazy aggressive bishop technique that baffles me. It has never needed to castle because I have never been a threat to it. While I try all the different castles only to survive for 40 moves. I can't keep playing like this. That's why I'm begging for help at 430 in the morning. What can I do to improve my game so that I have a chance at beating the juggernaught that is the "begginer" setting?

Go to the Shogi game page, as suggested. Look in the forums, as well as videos, files, and links. If you don't find what you need, start a thread in Strategy asking your questions.

There is an iphone/ipad app called Shogi lv100 that has 100 levels. Some of the first levels are rather easy but it builds up gradually and well.
There is also iShogi Salon if you want to play online with tons of Japanese players.
