You have to, at least from a distance, look as if you know what you're doing, and I can manage that.

Often we can not play FtF and then turn to the program Vassal. Can you state what game are you playing, specifying whether they are by e-mail or by other means.

I have a few live games of ASL on the way, including a campaign game that would be a long term pain to play on real life maps and counters.

I've played a lot via email for Twilight Struggle, which is excellent, and also for Labyrinth: The War on Terror, 2001 – ?. Turns are short, so they get turned around relatively quickly whistle.

Currently two ongoing games of Paths of Glory (CP in both cases -- Kaiser follies all around).

One game of A Victory Lost as the Germans, that's probably going to finish soon.

Just starting a game of Triumph of Chaos as the Reds.

And I'm about to get into Up Front on Vassal in a big way.

Also will likely start Vassal games of:

Empire of the Sun
Tunisia
Twilight Struggle
Labyrinth: The War on Terror, 2001 – ?

within the next month or two.

[edit]Everything is PBEM except Up Front will likely be real-time given its highly interactive nature.

FWIW: Up Front plays just fine PBEM. The only real interrupts are concealments and maybe Heros. Even then, the play of a concealment results in a cancelled attack well under half the time. Typically you'll turn control to your opponent with "Group A fires on Group B, Fire Strength = 2, cancel if you play Conceal 2/3..."

2x Paths of Glory - email and comments in the log files
1x Command and Colours: Ancients (finished the Punic Wars and now onto the Gothic series) - email and comments in the log files
1x Here I Stand - ACTS for dice and communications, email for secret diplomacy

and, in the discussion stage, if the call to players work out

1x Unhappy King Charles - easy to do by email
1x Twilight Struggle - ditto

Playing Normandy '44 live with video skype with Steve Arthur who lives in Australia. This is our second playing of this game.

We are slated to begin Ardennes '44 when we finish N44. We have also completed a game live of Ardennes (The Gamers). Have also completed a game of Julius Caesar live.

I have completed a game of Warriors of God and Ardennes '44 playing by email. Several other games have been begun by email but either myself or my opponent has lost interest and they were not completed.

I have come to realize that I only need to play live because I lose interest and focus with PBEM.

Looking to play:

Prussia's Defiant Stand
Washington's War
Wilderness War
Paths of Glory
The Longest Day
Combat Commander: Europe

Love vassal live.

I have 2 games of Warriors of God going on, which were my first PBEM games. I'm enjoying both WofG and the email aspect of it a lot.

Just started a game of A Victory Denied with the OP. I think this game could be perfect for PBEM, so have high hopes.

What he said...also very strange to play someone live who's guzzling ice water while sweltering in 100 degree plus temperatures while I'm all rugged up and freezing my buttocks off...

I have way too many frakkin' games going right now.

Two games of A Victory Lost
Two games of Advanced Squad Leader (one is Fighting Withdrawal, the other is Czerniakow Bridgehead).
One game of Advanced Squad Leader: Starter Kit #2, playing Hammer to the Teeth.
Then I've got a live game of Under the Lily Banners that I need to get back to and finish, as well as a live game of SPQR (Deluxe Edition).

I need to start focusing on playing more live games. I can't wait until my AVL games are done! One of them has been going for nearly 4 months!
