Hi
I have my own blog on game design. This is more a diary of my ideas and thoughts than anything else. However, recently I started to contact established game designers in order for them to give me some advice for aspiring game designers. So far, below are the responses I have received:

EDITED TO ADD LATEST REPLIES

I know many think it is a faux pas to place links to blogs rather than cut and paste the material but that would mean a long post. Also, remember these are designers the I admire and not all of you may have an interest in what they have to say. Also, I would publicly like to thank the above designers for taking time out of their schedule to reply to my request.
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

I hate clicking out to external material, but this was worth it. Several of the posts are very short and do the point. Efficient. Nice. Even the longer one was worth a quick read.

Indeed. Tom has always seemed like a really intelligent and insightful designer, and this did not disprove that notion.

THIS is what Board Game Design forums are about...I am glad you collected this information in this post. Although there are many extended and PINNED threads about it, I hope you include, and get more feedback from noteable game designers.

I particularly agree with the statement (from Einstien re: scientific thoery):
Make it as simple as possible, but not more.

Thanks - I will post more information as I get it. Every day I am amazed at the openness and helpfulness of the board gaming community! Most people are not secretive and want people to succeed. You don't see those qualities everywhere in today's society. KUDOS gamers!

Good stuff Clive! That is awesome that so many designers responded. I need to look through the others, but so far Tom Lehmann and Bruno Faidutti's (two of my favorite designers) have been really helpful.

Mike Elliott has kindly given a response. Mike is a 'hot' designer at the moment - having designed Thunderstone and co-designed Quarriors and Star Trek: Fleet Captains he is certainly on the buzz list!
