Hello

I am another one of those casual players who want 6 roughly balanced race decks (Don't really care too much for the neutral cards/units..)

Up until now, I have purchased the core set. Up until now, my impression was as follows:

Orcs: very strong
Dwarves: strong
Empire: okay
Chaos: Not as easy as other decks to win.. Need some luck in drawing

Since I plan to play 6 races, I am planning on getting the Assault on Uthulan expansion

However, I have read from previous posts that the chaos and HE are relatively weak.

I have also read that the burning of Derriksburg and the silent forge is good for upgrading Chaos and the elves

That is why I also plan on getting those battlepacks

Do you think the aforementioned purchases will lead to balanced decks?

The legends expansion also seem nice and I plan on getting that afterwards when I can afford it (I live on a quite tight budget...)

As I have stated in my answer to your other thread, (that's why I have copied and pasted some parts of my previous post with slight changes here, go down to summary if you don't want to read through it again ;-) ) I'd suggest getting the Legends expansion first if you want to upgrade Chaos.
Chaos has got the strongest Legend of all factions ( http://deckbox.org/whi/Kairos%20Fateweaver), so getting Legends could be a good idea for you. It also includes Swarm of bats ( http://deckbox.org/whi/Swarm%20of%20Bats), a nice card for Chaos/Orcs/Darkelves. Two other handy Chaos cards from that expansion: http://deckbox.org/whi/Warhounds & http://deckbox.org/whi/Marauder%20Chieftain .

If you want to play a Chaos-Corruption Deck, these four cards might be interesting (I'm not saying they are the strongest option, but they are all included in one battlepack): http://deckbox.org/whi/Braying%20Gor & http://deckbox.org/whi/Scheming%20Cultist & http://deckbox.org/whi/Winged%20Fury & http://deckbox.org/whi/Extending%20the%20Wastes , so you might consider getting the Burning of Derricksburg battlepack.

Furthermore the twin tailed comet battlepack includes a very, very strong Chaos card: http://deckbox.org/whi/Sorcerer%20of%20Tzeentch , but I don't know about the other cards in that battlepack, so you might check that on deckbox.

Regarding HE, again as stated in my previous post, there are some nice cards in March of the Damned. I do only own The Coreset, all Deluxe expansions and one cycle of battlepacks and my HE indirect damage deck contains the following cards from march of the damned. Again, there might be options in other battlepacks I don't own, which are much better. http://deckbox.org/whi/Sea%20Guard%20Captain & http://deckbox.org/whi/Skinks%20of%20Sotek & http://deckbox.org/whi/Spawn%20of%20Itzl & http://deckbox.org/whi/Citadel%20of%20Dusk & http://deckbox.org/whi/Elven%20Warship

You also mentioned the Silent Forge battlepack. I have recommended that one because of this card: http://deckbox.org/whi/Outpost%20of%20Tiranoc ,which is good for a HE indirect damage deck. But as with the twin-tailed comet battlepack I'm not sure about the other cards in that pack at the moment, so again you should check deckbox first.

Summary: I'd start with the Legends expansion, then buy March of the Damned (if you want to upgrade HE) or Burning of Derricksburg (if you want to upgrade Chaos). Regarding silent forge or twin tailed comet, check deckbox first.
It is always difficult to tell whether a certain expansion will lead to balanced decks or not. Just build a deck for each faction and play a couple of games. If some factions seem stronger than others (like the orcs and dwarves, which was your impression with the core set), just remove some strong cards from their decks (and include the contested village or warpstone excavation in other decks, e.g.) and see if that balances the experience. Should be ok for casual gaming. Also play according to the official faq and errata, as certain cards are restricted or banned, which helps balancing the game. I agree with Julian. Even for a casual player, if you want to shoot for 6 balanced factions, you need all 3 of the 'big box' expansions. Lots of great stuff in the battlepacks as well, but the expansions will give you a pretty good foundation.

Many thanks to hotbutton again!

As you can probably see, my whole purchase plan was based on your helpful previous post

I guess then I will first go with the Legends expansion rather than the battlepacks first

Now I just need to find a way to save some extra money lol
