This is just an idle question because I love the Shadowmoor block. Which color pairs were the most powerful? Which were weakest?

I get the impression that blue/white and blue/red weren't as strong (based on the cost of their Lieges on the secondary market, as well as how well those decks perform in my very limited group).

I think that Black/White, Green/Black and Red/Green are pretty strong, but my group basically builds agro decks, so we could be missing something.

What do you think?

Secondary market prices are based on constructed value. In draft, white-blue was very strong, mostly on the back of Steel of the Godhead, Curse of Chains, and Silkbind Faerie, solid creatures like Ballynock Cohort and Briarberry Cohort, plus some powerful non-creatures like Æthertow and, at uncommon, Armored Ascension. Red-green was definitely a strong aggro strategy, too. Much of the time, you were actually better off running only a single color of land in draft, even though your cards spilled over due to hybrid mana.

That makes sense. Those are good, broadly useful cards.

When we play I find that Green/Blue can be very effective, especially because of:

and

Snakeform: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiver...

Although now that I look, in general the balance of the cards in this color pair aren't so great.

Red/White can be brutal. I know that I groan every time I see a Balefire liege hit the table: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiver...
