Are there any stores that sell 9x9 boards without stones?

I have a nice folding 19x19 one with a set of stones but I want a 9x9 board for quick games and for friends who are learning. But I have no real need to own more than one set of stones and I'm already pressed for space and two more stone bowls would just take up even more shelf space.

A small chess board will work. You just have to be aware that the edge locations are in play.

There are also .pdf files you can print that give you a nice paper 9×9 board.

Samarkand used to sell really nice wooden boards with 9×9 on one side and 13×13 on the other, but since you are looking to save space I'd go with the chess board or the paper printout.

Edit: Check the "files" section here for the 9×9 PDFs. There are several to choose from.

I assume you've realized by now that folding the board causes a 9x19 board? I put a single piece of paper over the other half of my board, identified easily by dots. Works quickly, easily, and with zero confusion.

I would go for a plain 13x13 / 9x9 board. I've got one myself and it nice to have. I would not feel great about playing on a chess board just because of the contrast.
I know shops / online retailers who can provide that in Europe but you probably prefer to order from the US. If you go for that and can't find it, let me know and I'll share some addresses.

Yes, I've seen various places over the years sell nice mid-size wooden boards with 9x9 on one side and 13x13 on the other. I own one and like it.

And likewise for small wooden 9x9-only boards.

I think if you check the usual places, surely at least one will have such a board.

My daughter has this board.

It's cheap and light and serves its intended purpose.

Use a black perma-marker and draw a 9x9 board around the center. Now you have a 2in1 board.

Another option is the Nestorgames 9-13-19 board at http://nestorgames.com/#go19_detail

I know you already have a 19×19, but I think it's a cool idea. Haven't tried playing on it yet though, so I can't promise it wouldn't be distracting!

If space is an issue you might want to get a soft board made of leather or vinyl:

Goodness, lots of replies here! :D

A chess board sounds interesting but as a user above said I probably couldn't deal with the contrast in the squares. :/

I live in the US Actorios so yes, I'd like to order within my country if possible. I've tried googling it and even ebaying it but I can't seem to come across a cheap board with at least one side 9x9.

Jdludlow, that link doesn't work anymore. :(

That leather 9x9 board looks nice Jaredhayter, I might consider that one if I can't get a wooden one (I like the clack of the stones on wood, what can I say?).

That is a nice one. Hmmm, I guess it's just not possible to find a board without stones. I might just have to bite the bullet... :/
