I was wondering what you thought about having no "railroad era begins" in a two player game, as that jumps the player who achieves this too far ahead. I've played 2 players mexico about 13 times, and every winner has gotten this card. They can build stuff too fast, and cannot be competed against when bidding for turn order. The opponent has to get more bonds as well to keep up.

Bid the other player up in the auction until the price for getting the card balances (or over-balances) the value of having it. That's the point of the auction, after all: to make the first player pay for that advantage. If possible, make him pay too much for it.

Agreed with Rick. That's the whole point of the auction.

Agreed, the first bid of the game should be at least $5,000, if not more to pay for the income bonus that point gives you over the course of the game.

BTW this rule :Just to say - have you tried playing with the following ? : " Two player's unfinished links cannot be joined " ie. head to head >___ ____<
although this is OK >___\___< { the link on the right is curving upwards & away ! }. This rule makes it possible to avoid a last action " stitch - up " by a single player who is trying to block your route...

Weve been toying with the idea of just shuffling all the cards into the deck for 2 players and play them like service bounties when and if they come up. We havent tried it yet but we probably will next time we play. I like the idea of the Passenger Lines card coming up mid-game when a lot of the cubes are off the board already. We would also start the game with 7 cards drawn from the deck, except all 7 cards would be random instead of just 4.
