GNOME Reveal/Novice

Adds Lucre To Attack Total

You have the power of Wealth. As a main player, if both you and your opponent reveal attack cards, use this power to add one third (rounding up) of your Lucre to your total without sending it to the bank.

HISTORY: Reclusive and furtive, the Gnomes work in the background of pan-galactic civilization, scrimping and saving and setting aside. When push comes to shove, however, the Gnomes have always known how to get the most bang for their buck.

Use Only In A Game With Lucre

FLARE

Planning & Reveal
Wild: As main player, you may retain the Lucre you spend to increase your side's total in this encounter.

Reveal
Super: You may add or subtract one third of your Lucre to your side's total as an ally.

Commentary: This is a Lucre power originally produced by Mayfair. A homage to Eon Lucre rules, Gnome is a powerhouse but at a small sacrifice - you can't efficiently use your Lucre for anything else. Under Eon rules everyone has to balance their Lucre in terms of buying cards and saving it to add to totals. Gnome has the same problem, but it is a good problem. Nothing is stopping Gnome from using his Lucre to purchase resources, but it works just as well, if not better, accumulating.

Hmm... I like it. One of the few powers that can even think about competing directly with things like warrior and virus.

And it has a funny visual of a little man with a Shillelagh standing on a stack of gold.

Why is there no Word Games Forum or Subdomain?

There should be a Word Games Subdomain, or at least a Word Games Forum!

It's really a weaker version of Warrior that can't spend his Lucre - and is still subject to other lucre-stealing powers like Butler, Pirate, Extortionist, etc.

Yeah, I get that they wanted a power that was an homage to the Eon rules, but it really doesn't work that well.
