I've poked around the advanced search, and while it lets you define a search based on the range of player numbers a game supports, I'd like to be able to search/find games that are, say, rated "best with 2" or other numbers. I know that data is there as it's on the page with each game, so how does one go about searching that way?

This isn't really what you're looking for, but it's related and might be useful to you.

If you haven't already seen it, there's a pretty neat Geek List which leads you through a sort of "choose your own adventure" to find games you might like based on a set of criteria starting with how many players you have: http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/22619/the-optimum-game-sel...

I am not aware of a way to search this.

I wish searching by the number of players was easier since that's really the main way I choose what game to play.

However, I thought I'd point out this very nice tool, it will tell you the best with x number of players for your own collection.

Unfortunately that doesn't help if you are trying to find new games.

Look at your collection (or anyone's collection) and click on "Download board games" (to the right at the top of the list). This will download a .csv (comma separated values) file, which any spreadsheet can read. (Including Open Office Calc.) Column AF is recommended players; column AG is best players.

Perhaps the new UI will make access to this less Geeky. But then, where would the fun be in that?

Check out this thread about the "What to Play" app. It's great for sorting games in your collection.
