Please thumb up this post -- It is for the "30 Project"

----------------------------------------------------
Next meeting of the Ottawa Games Group is this Wednesday, September 7th, 2011.

If there is something you would like people to bring, post it here.
If there is something you are bringing that you think others would like to see post it here.

Everyone is welcome, so if you have ever thought of joining in the fun, come on out this Wednesday and check out the action.

We start around 6:30.
We usually go until 9:30 or 10:00pm.

----------------------------------------------------

Question of the Fortnight

Hi there,

What game or expansion are you most looking forward to before the end of 2011?

The new maps for TTR?
The new expansion for PR (will this one actually be out before 2011?)
D&D Drizzt Durden?
Kingdom Builder?

----------------------------------------------------

The address is:
Canadian Legion Branch 480 - Westboro, 389 Richmond Road, upstairs.

Google maps:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=r...

Please bring a toonie for the legion.
Please remember on Wednesday nights the Legion serves food downstairs.

--------------------------------

MEMBERSHIP IS OPTIONAL - BUT CAN HAVE IT'S PRIVILEGES!

Membership provides discounts at local retailers through a membership card system.

There are two options:
1. $5.00 to Steve Larkin in Kanata. This entitles you to the cards
2. Prepay 3 weeks for the Legion (3 X $2.00 = $6.00). This entitles you to the cards and provides three weeks of dues to the Legion.

Recommendations are as follows:
If you are going to play at the Legion at least once, I would do the prepay.
However, if you are in the west end and do not plan to go to the Legion, I would just pay the $5.00 to Steve at KGG.
Steve goes by srlarkin on BGG.

Just geekmail or ask at a session if you are interested in the membership discount cards.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The "30 Project"
In our 15 years we have never broken 30 people. We have had three or four cases of 29 (Grrr.) So your help in the fall months -- bringing friends, thumbing the post so it gets to the front page -- is greatly appreciated. Especially now until the nasty winter weather. It is a prime time for good gaming nights.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hope to see you on WED.

Don't forget, there is the Kanata and Orleans group as well.
*** For those of you in the South, there is an Oxford Mills group too!!!
Check in this forum for their times and locations.

Easy question. The reprint of 1830: Railways & Robber Barons. As seems to be normal with these things, the release date is continually delayed. Sigh.

Are they planning to reprint all of these?
Or, is it a case of specific fan faves are getting "remastered"?

That was probably Star Trek: Expeditions.

We'll be bring Colosseum again this week, and playing properly this time! Zaxxon will tag along for the ride too.

As for upcoming game, I'm excited about Elder Sign ...A little reindeer told me, that it might end up under th Xmas tree.

There are really great looking cards and theme.
But, how close is this to Arkham?

Yahooooo! Just found you guys and you are practically at the end of my street! (Looking for a babysitter as we speak.)

How will I know what will be played? I like to read up on the rules before hand if I can.

I find its a rare day indeed when I know the rules to the game beforehand. Everyone is very good about teaching new games, as its pretty much expected that not everyone will know how to play.

The best trick is to bring your own game to teach.

I'm looking forward to the brand new never announced out of the blue race expansions for BattleLore. Never mind, dead project there. What I am really looking forward to and has been delayed so I won't be getting it next week is Ankh-Morpork because I'm a big fan of the fiction and the cards and artwork look beautiful.

Will bring the BattleLore figs, but really want to get in on that game of Zaxxon that will be breaking out some time soon.

It's often called by its critics "Arkham Light", but who knows...Supposedly faster-paced. People who hate it call it "Arkham Yahtzee". So who knows!

If it's more playable for our game nights, I'm all for it!

Speaking of Arkham Light, I'll bring A Touch of Evil, which is a semi-cooperative Arkham-like game that should be playable in a reasonable about of time. It's by the same guys who make LNoE.

So it looks like I will in fact be able to make it. That's right, my wife is a saint. Her mother is in town to help with the baby so my wife suggested that I should take advantage of the opportuntity to go to the game night and I grudgingly agreed to go.

Would love to get in on that game of Zaxxon if it happens.

Also, the more I look at Dungeon Run the more I realize it shares a lot in common with Fortress so that's a sure winner. Can't wait to try it out.

I can't remember... does Dungeon Run allow levelling?

Spinners, little jet plane pieces that have height-adjustable stands, and an age limit of 7-14! This game has it all!

I'll even try and remember to bust out my Atari jacket for this momentous event.

From what I've seen I don't think so but you can advance your character through collecting magical weapons/armor etc. which has a similar effect as leveling.
