Would appreciate recommendations for Naval Wargames.

Primary eras interest would be Napoleonic, WWII and Modern Day.

Ideally would like miniatures or nice card counters.

Cheers,

Nigel

I would suggest Harpoon 4 for modern era, and The Rising Sun: Command at Sea Volume I for WWII, if you want detailed, realistic naval rules. Both are designed for minis, but the box includes some very nice counters

For a more relaxed set of miniature rules, try Victory at Sea

Tactical, Operational, or Strategic in scope? In other words, are you looking to command a destroyer, a squadron, or a fleet???

There are vastly different recommendations based on the scope you are seeking.

Thanks for all the suggestions - that has given me plenty of reading on BBG.

Not really sure what the difference is - in layman's terms I want a game with two or more sides have a number of ships each. Each ship is individually controllable and represeented by a miniature or pictorial counter. Maybe aircraft aswell, though not for Napoleonic of course.

Not too complex but not simplistic eaithe - and complete.

Also currently available to buy new.

To be honest, it was Axis and Allies War at Sea that first caught my attention but have assumed that (i) it is over simplistic and (ii) will be expensive to get a decent set of miniatures.

Cheers,

Nigel
