Just picked up this pack from my FLGS, was looking through the cards, and came across this Ally

Escort from Edoras

"While commited to a quest, Escort from Edoras gets +2mb.
Forced: After resolving a quest to which Escort from Edoras was commited, discard Escort from Edoras from play."

So...it looks like when you commit Escort from Edoras to a quest, he has a willpower of 4mb, then he gets discarded. I'm just curious why his base willpower isn't simply 4mb, and why he gets a bonus when he quests. Is there some instance where you count willpower outside of the questing phase? I'm confused blush

Can't think of anything right off hand but who knows down the road they may have some card effect/treachery hit characters if their willpower is X or lower.

I think that I saw a card that said "test your combat strength instead". Maybe Massing at Osgiliath. Or some spoiler? Or I just dreamed it

No dream. I think that was in a preview for the Dead Marshes. The Escape mechanic. Hold on...

Okay here it is: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2334

Turns out Esseb did touch the flag. Don't tell him I said so though.

I could also easily imagine cards which left you use willpower as defense or attack etc.. and various other future uses. So making his willpower only useful for questing means his cost gets to be low.

and Nice to see more Rohan characters.

Aha! Nice idea. An event which allowed a character to use willpower in place of attack would turn Eowyn into the boss slayer she's fabled to be.

I think there will be some sort of Willpower check in the future (Dead Marshes first, likely). I am having no difficulties adding two and two together. Although, when you are a Radiohead fan as I am, two and two will likely equal 5.
