Picked this one up yesterday!!

Very excited to try it out with the girlfriend tonight. I have a pretty good grasp on the rules, but I'm still planning on showing her FFG's video on the game. Its a great explanation with TONS of theme thrown in, which I think will help.

Anyone have any suggestions for mood music to play to keep that creepy feeling going?? Something I can get digitally, or a playlist on YouTube would be great.

Thanks!!

A couple artists to check out would be Midnight Syndicate and Ulf Soderberg. You can listen to some of their tracks on the YouTube.

Our MoM group likes to play The Shining or The Exorcist in the background during games. The soundtracks would work great alone if you find the screaming in the films too distracting.

Whoa. Those movies are way too scary for me. Should I even be playing this game??

Thanks, I'll check out those soundtracks!

Flint Glass has a whole album of Lovecraft inspired industrial ambience that will drive you insane. It's called Nyarlathotep.

You can't get more Cthulhu-specifc than The Unquiet Void.

The chanting in The Esoteric Order on the Poisoned Dreams album will haunt your dreams. goo

I have a solo project I call "Dear Chechnya" and I am told that it would be perfect mood music for some things. It's a mixture of ambient and post-rock music. I haven't touched the project in about 2 years, so as of now, most of what is available can be found on my old myspace music page.

I released an entire album on a web-label called Rope Swing Cities but they have gone by the wayside. If you or anyone is interested, I would be happy to re-upload my entire album for people to download. I've never charged for it.

Cheers.

If you like classical, look up Requiem by Gyorgy Ligeti... aka that creepy monolith music from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Really, really creepy.

I came across Erdenstern (a group) fairly recently, and they've put together an album for just such a thing:

http://www.erdenstern.com/music/cthulhu/

It includes some 20s/30s style music woven throughout, chanting, etc.; perfect for Elder Sign, Arkham, and Mansions of Madness.

Thank you ALL for the fantastic sugestions!!

I ultimately went with:

I had the playlist going while my girlfriend and I were playing, and as the tensions started to build, she finally asked, "What are we listening to?"

I replied, "Just some music...why?"

"Because its creeping me out!"

lol mission accomplished.

I will definitely be using everyone's suggestions eventually...as this was our first horror game, and our first exposure to Lovecraft's wonderful universe, I've been thinking about picking up Arkham Horror for solo play...

Thanks again!!

My friends have been really happy with my Lovecraft playlist.
I use the following:

Beyond Madness, Unnamable, an Titan Blur - Aklo
Polish Night Music - David Lynch
Twin Peaks Fire Walk with me
The Silent Hill game soundtracks (I uncheck most of the vocal tracks)
The Alan Wake soundtrack
The 13th Hour - Midnight Syndicate (any of their albums are good for gaming)

There are also full albums of 1930s music on iTunes. I think I got 150 tracks for $9.

I ran into this amazing band today and going to use it for our next MoM session: http://open.spotify.com/artist/2vmxXfIAWKLWbN1yGgHdou

If you don't use spotify the band is "Nox Arcana" and albums: Necronomicon, Blackthorn Asylum and Winter's Knight.
