Very excited to try it out with the girlfriend tonight. I have a pretty good grasp on the rules, but I'm still planning on showing her FFG's video on the game. Its a great explanation with TONS of theme thrown in, which I think will help.
Anyone have any suggestions for mood music to play to keep that creepy feeling going?? Something I can get digitally, or a playlist on YouTube would be great.
I have a solo project I call "Dear Chechnya" and I am told that it would be perfect mood music for some things. It's a mixture of ambient and post-rock music. I haven't touched the project in about 2 years, so as of now, most of what is available can be found on my old myspace music page.
I released an entire album on a web-label called Rope Swing Cities but they have gone by the wayside. If you or anyone is interested, I would be happy to re-upload my entire album for people to download. I've never charged for it.
I use these when I play mansions of madness... there are four parts, I made them into a playlist and just put it on repeat....works well for me.....
I had the playlist going while my girlfriend and I were playing, and as the tensions started to build, she finally asked, "What are we listening to?"
I replied, "Just some music...why?"
"Because its creeping me out!"
lol mission accomplished.
I will definitely be using everyone's suggestions eventually...as this was our first horror game, and our first exposure to Lovecraft's wonderful universe, I've been thinking about picking up Arkham Horror for solo play...
My friends have been really happy with my Lovecraft playlist. I use the following:
Beyond Madness, Unnamable, an Titan Blur - Aklo Polish Night Music - David Lynch Twin Peaks Fire Walk with me The Silent Hill game soundtracks (I uncheck most of the vocal tracks) The Alan Wake soundtrack The 13th Hour - Midnight Syndicate (any of their albums are good for gaming)
There are also full albums of 1930s music on iTunes. I think I got 150 tracks for $9.
