our group has played this a couple of times, and I think the general consensus is that we love it. Great theme, interesting mechanics, etc. However, it seems as if it has a runaway leader problem. Should one player secure control of a railroad and do well with it, he/she gets in the position where they can't be stopped. When the tech level three railroads come out, he/she will get the pick of the litter, and get 8 or 9 shares, while everyone else is scrambling to capitalize one that can survive. What are we missing, or is this simply the way this game plays?

Next time try floating and dumping half a dozen companies as soon as you see a player in that position. This is not to say that is th only or correct response, but that you'll likely learn what you need to know in the process.
