1. As I understand it LAWs are not used in Melee. (Y/N)

2. When fighting Melee you can have 2 in one hex. One on the ground Floor one on the 2nd floor? (Y/N) Rule reference would be cool here.

3. IF a unit is adjacent to an enemy but down stairs can it see & fire at a unit that is adjacent and upstairs?

Here is where I get confused with the LoS inside a building, I've been playing it as NO. If they were in the same hex I can see the logic of shooting up and down stair wells etc. But across a larger distance it seems to not fit well for me?

2. Different stories are effectively different hexes.

3. In the same hex (immediately above/below), yes. Otherwise, they are not considered adjacent if they are on different floors.

you are awesome...why. Because you confirmed that I got it right.....yahhh for me.

-----> therefore, as clarification they are not adjacent - got it!

AND there is no LOS?
i.e.
Upstairs unit ....x1... y1
downstairs ......x1... y2 unit
I guess is the building blocking terrain in that case from up/down stairs one hex?

This is one of the very few disadvantages to putting all your troops in an upper story building, IMHO. Enemy infantry can move right up to the hex that's adjacent to your guys but you still won't get the +2 adjacent bonus to your opp. fire. If you miss, the enemy infantry gets into your building and then you've got a real mess to deal with.

I've experimented with putting a fire team on the upper floors and a squad on the lower floor so I get the +2 bonus vs. approaching infantry and this seems to work well as a defensive strategy.

right near the end. The Brits hold off the Argentines by being upstairs.
