Central Texans! Here's another opportunity to try out your C&C:N skills in a small tournament with other players! Details below!

What: Commands & Colors: Napoleonics Banner Day (Tournament)
When: October 22, 2011 - Doors open at 8 a.m. Tournament begins at 9 a.m.
Where: Austin, Texas
Locale: Great Hall Games, 5501 N. Lamar Bvd.
Fee: $5
Requirements: Desire to play and knowledge of the new C&C: Napoleonics Base Game
Registration: Pay at the door, no pre-registration necessary

Come join us for a full day of gaming fun and historical recreation as we play GMT's battle game Commands & Colors: Napoleonics!

This all-day, tournament-style event will allow participants to compete against one another via modified match-play* in two separate scenarios taken from the basic Commands & Colors: Napoleonics game. Each scenario will spotlight the British and Portuguese armies battling the forces of France in Spain (The Peninsular War).

All participants are also invited and encouraged to play one final scenario of the day: a home-brew Epic version of the Battle of Vimiero! This is taking the Vimiero battle from the scenario book and stretching the troops and terrain (Easy Epic-style) across an Epic-size map, using modified Epic rules from Commands & Colors: Ancients.

Entry for the event is $5, payable at the door (to cover securing play space at Great Hall Games for the day and for some snacks in the morning). There is no pre-registration necessary. A prize will be awarded to the winner of the tournament as well some nice takeaways for the attendees. A pair of gift certificates will be awarded after the Vimiero battle.

Participants are therefore guaranteed four games against four different opponents. Plus the opportunity to play the Epic Battle of Vimiero. Due to the earlier start tine from past banner days, each game in a match will last about an hour and 45 minutes. We'll take a scheduled, hour-long lunch break at 12:30.

*Modified Match-Play: C&C: Napoleonics scenarios tend to run a little longer than C&C: Ancients scenarios. To give players the best opportunity to play full games against more opponents, I'm having players switch opponents and sides based on their rank and side-played after each game. This will also allow all players a chance to enjoy a full lunch-break before returning to the tables.

Note: We'll also hold a C&C: Napoleonics "Boot Camp" the week before the event (Saturday, October 15) to give new and interested players a chance to the game and brush up on play. There is no charge for the Boot Camp and will be held during regular store hours.

Knowledge of the basic game is required for play in tournament and to play in the Battle of Vimiero, but no great experience in the game itself is necessary. Players are asked to please bring a copy of the game with them for play during the day. (If you don't own a copy of the game but want to play, please come out anyway. I'm sure we'll manage!)

Send Geekmail to BradyLS if you have any questions about this event.
