One question that sometimes comes up is 'what is the distribution of card types in a sealed starter deck?'. While there is no fixed number of agendas, ice, icebreakers, hardware, etc. they appear to fall w/in certain ranges as alluded to in various posts. Since I bought six sets of starters (independently and NOT as a starter box), I took the time to catalog the card type distribution for each deck. I've posted a spreadsheet with each deck's distributions as well as the average card type across decks (the range is easily determined by eyeballing, but excel junkies can probably add that in). It is in .xlsx format. GM me w/ an email that can take attachments if you need an earlier compatible version.

Do we know what the rarity distribution of the various card categories is? What I mean is (according to Netrunner Online) a deck contains:

------------------------------VITAL----COMMON--UNCOMMON--RARE----TOTAL
Starter Double-Deck----------26--------60------------30----------4-------120
Runner Starter Deck----------15--------30------------13----------2--------60
Corporation Starter Deck-----11--------30------------17----------2--------60

Where do the rarities fall by card type?

Hmmm...I'm trying to come up with a system for building "starter decks" out of a collection of cards, and this distribution is giving me fits. I'm thinking of dividing out the cards by type, with 1 of any given rare, 3 of any specific uncommons, and 6 of any specific commons, then dealing out standard quantities of each type. Is there much/any duplication amongst the commons/uncommons in starter decks?

Does anyone else have any ideas on this?

Well, apparently I'm a bit of a twit, as this has already been discussed a fair bit on these forums, and I just didn't bother to search for it before posting. The hilarious part is that I didn't find it now by searching, but instead stumbled on several related threads while looking for something else. Regardless, here are some links (with quotes) to other forum threads here on the 'Geek on this subject:

Sorted Random Decks

In another thread, I mentioned how I had put together a set of Netrunner cards specifically to build starter-like decks for quick non-constructed play. The card set mimics starter deck play to some degree, but sorts and categorizes cards differently to provide a less chunky experience.

Building a Runner starter

I played around with NetSeal already, but was looking for basic distribution rules--I have a very limited subset of cards, and wanted an idea of how the old 60-card starters were organized. The "Golden Rules" of sealed deck building--which I realize aren't the same as a starter--imply that I should have more than 7 icebreakers, though. It states:...

Contents of Starters

Does anyone know if the contents of the starters are essentially random or what? I'm thinking the best way to get a decent amount of brand new shrink wrapped cards may be for my friend and I to each buy a starter and then combine the runner/corp cards from each set so we have a nice pool to draw from...

I'm still not sure what the best way to go about this is, although I like the look of the process recommended by:
