I played the first scenerio today Solo. I got picked apart. As near as i can figure the only difference in the rules for solo vs 2 players is how many encounter cards are added to the staging area each round. Is there any other things to consider?

Not really. The term first player becomes important, as well as keeping differnet threat levels.

That is how I play solo, 2 fisted. sauron

Also, remember that the Ranged and Sentinel abilities become relevant with >1 player. I initially got used to this game solo, so when I tried it 2-handed I kept overlooking these - especially Sentinel - but they can be very useful.
