As some of you already know, but new players getting into the game may not, is that the Knight Hawks miniatures and in fact all the Star Frontiers miniatures have a prevalent problem known as "Lead Rot".

Due to the nature of the boxes the games come in, they react with the lead minis and start a self sustaining process of destruction. The lead dissolves and crystalizes into a fine powder and if left unchecked it can destroy a figure. It also makes the minis potentially *VERY* dangerous to your health touch!

Id strongly advise against buying the minis "Mint Sealed in Box" as that means you are very likely buying a box of little better that lead dust in worst cases.

The miniatures can be cleaned and treated to stop the process. And a good coat of sealer and paint after cleaning can safeguard the pieces. Just remember to wash hands and surfaces the minis touch thoroughly afterwards as the powdered lead that is oft left on the figures from the rot is very health hazardous.
