Has anyone considered allowing the attacking player to choose a single player to attack, rather than a blanket attack of everyone? This would allow ganging up on the leader, which would diminish the value of going first.

I really don't see "ganging up on the leader" as a valuable feature in a game. It usually makes games last too long and gives the win to the player who is lucky enough to be the 2nd or 3rd strongest player. (See: Munchkin)

I like the 'must attack all players' rule and I do not agree with the theory of 'first player advantage' as stated by a few here. I think early leaders are determined by good quid rolls early, along with scoring 2-3 assistances early, so they can cull out basic dice. In the games I have played so far, that is the case, regardless of who was the first player.

This pretty much sums up my opinion on it.

by changing it to that, it only lets your other opponents catch up and doesnt help stop the one that is in the lead....to do that i believe we will have to wait for the expansion...devil

Personally I vastly prefer non-targeted attacks in this sort of game.

Just to note, this wouldn't allow ganging up on a leader; you couldn't attack the leader any more than you can right now. It would allow NOT attacking a player who wasn't doing as well. Which would indirectly reign in the leader and accomplish what you want - just pointing out the difference.

It will lead to a lot more kingmaking. And whining.
