-are retreats simultaneous and do units have to retreat to the same space or can they split up to avoid the border limit rule?

My guess is that they must be simultaneous, that border limits don't apply to retreats (because they are disorganised formations) and that pursuant to the rule requiring them to retreat to the areas closest to either Centreville or Manassas Station they must all go to the same place.

I thought that was true also, however, I noticed that the spaces north of the river one being north of Lewis Ford and the other to the west of it have borders on the three areas next to Centerville. Since there is no rule governing simultaneous movement I don't see why defending Union units could not retreat separately into any of those two bordering areas.
