"Between the Wars" (1978), hosted by Eric Sevareid
'The Italian-Ethiopian War: Africa in World Affairs' is brief, but particularly informative on the war's social impact in America:
http://www.tvguide.com/detail/tv-show.aspx?tvobjectid=200010...

a few details:
* inspired violent friction between American Italians and Blacks;
* American Blacks volunteered to fight for the Ethiopians (although it is unclear how many actually served);
* world reporters favored the Ethiopians to such a positive extent that they skewed democratic expectations unrealistically to a degree that may have hampered a more realistic, let alone timely, response - the result of which was a surprise at the Italian victory (indeed, Mussolini was also surprised and delighted by its completion in just 6 months).

"Mussolini's Roman Empire" by Denis Mack Smith (Viking Press, 1976) - Chapter 5 'The Ethiopian War' (pgs. 59-81):
so much information about the convoluted Inter - and InTRA - national politics packed within these few pages leaves the reader breathless -- modern International politics looks as complex as a game of hopscotch in comparison.

"War: Ethiopia's Lusitania?"
Time magazine article, Monday, Jan. 13, 1936 - interesting on several levels in addition to the actual details of the action reported {style, bias, propaganda, international reactions and expectations [including Italian], and League response}:
