Hi,

Looking for some recommendations for good, quick solo games with either cards, dice or both. Not war games though. I would like it more luck base eg. on what card(s) you draw or what dice you roll. Only one I've found that looks good is Onirim Is there a solo geeklist as I could find any ?

Thanks.

Onirim is a really good one, but the basic game is too easy.

Set is another fun one to just work your way through the deck.

Roll Through the Ages and the newer Elder Sign are both pretty quick.

If you have the time, there are loads of good solitaire print and play games that play quickly.

Also the Decktet has some nice little solitaire games.

Always alone... the definitive list of single player games.

If you have a copy of For Sale you can try my solitaire variant. It plays in 10-15 minutes, requires some luck as well as good decisions, has scaleable difficulty, and IMO captures the feel of For Sale quite well.

If you don't have For Sale but want to try the game anyway you can make it on your own. You'll need one set of numbered cards from 1-30, 2 sets of numbered cards numbered 2-15, 2 cards numbered 0, and a total of 19 coins or tokens of some sort.

Alternately you can make a copy of Zombie in my Pocket.

If you can Print and Play, take a look at the recent Solitaire Print and Play Contest, some great entries.

The winner of the contest was Inspector Moss: House Arrest (full disclosure - I am co-designer)
Second place was the excellent Shadows Upon Lassadar
Third place was Lord of the Rings: The Adventure Deck Game

Other PnP solo dice games include:
Utopia Engine
Escape of the Dead Minigame
Reiner Knizia's Decathlon

All of these can be played by simply printing out a sheet and rolling some plain dice. I had a great time playing the computer version of UE quite a few times before finally winning. EotDM is a fun pastime. I haven't tried Decathlon, but it has a solid reputation.

I like to play Chrononauts solitaire when I want to play a quick game. It usually takes me about 20-30 minutes to play a game and it fits your request for using cards and somewhat luck on what cards you draw. It is also challenging and requires some thinking.

Thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming

To be honest I've never played or tried a print/play games, so I'll have a look at some of those but I do prefer to buy/have an actual game

Only played Elder Sign once but I did prefer it to Arkham Horror.

Didn't really like Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age it was ok.

Thanks.
