Many gamers complain that
1) Field combat is too one-sided
2) Siege Assaults are too difficult
To fix that I propose the following house rules which I am currently playtesting:
1) Indeed it is really odd, that in many battles only one side fires, while the other side does nothing else than taking hits. So my proposal is to modify the initiative result effects:
Initiative Difference by
0 or 1 - Both sides fire simultaneously
2 - The side which won the initiative fires first
3 - Only the side which won the initiative my fire this combat round
I think this should provide more balanced battles with more realistic outcomes.
2) The to hit number of units defending in a siege assault is modified either by the fortress value or by the overall commander, but never by both (defender's choice).
It will still remain very hard to take a castle by siege assault, but now the attacker will have a realistic chance to do so.
What do you think on that?
