Hi all! I know there are other mechanics junkies out there! Those of us who look at a game and start salivating when we see 4 mechanics listed, or even better, those beautiful two words: show more. Onthe flip side, people like us will get excited about a game until we go to the mechanics section and see only 1 listed....."just worker placement? That's it?" ....and a little part of us dies inside.

So here's the question: what are the best games for us mechanics junkies?

To qualify games need to have at least 4 mechanics.

My top two are El Grande and Macao. What are some more?

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

Roads & Boats is my favorite when considering the amount of mechanics and the game page lists more than 4 so I hope it qualifies.

BGG only lists two mechanics, but there are at least 3 more. It has multiple levels of area control, set collection, and value manipulation mechanics, in addition to the area movement and bidding/auction mechanics listed on the geek. The theme is pasted on, but it aids understanding of the rules. Playing this game feels like looking at a cut-away of some mechanical device where you can see all the parts moving.

Earth Reborn is just chocked full of mechanics. Far too many to list.

Older:
Roads & Boats
Hex-and-Counter, Line Drawing. Modular Board, Pick-up and Deliver, Route/Network Building, Tile Placement

Newer:
Pantheon
Area Control / Area Influence, Chit-Pull System, Hand Management, Route/Network Building, Variable Player Powers

Brand new:
Poseidon's Kingdom
Area Movement, Dice Rolling, Pick-up and Deliver, Tile Placement, Variable Player Powers (the "anthill" mechanism!)

Consider, that not every mechanism is attached to all appropriate games, though, and that there are many more mechanisms out there not really appearing in the "mechanics" section of BGG.

My first thought was Vinhos. Somewhat surprisingly, it has only three mechanics listed. Might still fit your bill.

As you love Macao, Stefan Feld seems to be your man. Watch out for Trajan: many paths to victory, and a novel mancala-rondell.

Played a friend's copy of Shogun last night...holy cow, it had a crapton of mechanics all going on every single turn. If I recall, simultaneous action selection, blind bidding, area control, area majority (yes both), variable phase order, this ridiculous cube tower contraption (awesome), a built-in "AI" representing revolting farmers, set collection in a similar vein to Ticket to Ride, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. It was a crazy four hours (4 of the 5 players were new).
