I think after a few rounds, a dominant strategy would emerge and the game would quickly degenerate into a first-player-wins (or 2/5-wins) game. Also, Fairgrounds and Horn of Plenty would probably be OP. It might be fun the first few games, though.
We've played a couple games where everyone chose their first 2 buys from the box & then we threw out any card that more than one player bought (chapel). After that we filled in the 2 vacant spots randomly.
That made for an interesting game trying to pick not knowing what the rest of the market would be.
