Subject: Optimal placement of heroes? rss

So, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on optimal placement of Heroes? In particular in scenario 1, would Mortarion be assisted if Magnus joined him to breach Dorns special ability? Where would Fulgrims special ability best be placed - NE or SE? If you had to bring down Horus is it bestto keep him furthest away from Imperial power in the SE spaceport?

And on the Imperial side, Jagata threatens both the NW and SW spaceports - but moving to assault one does seem to cut off the implicit threat he brings. Sanguinus is great on the assault - should he be moving into the NE spaceport to deny it to the enenmy?

Any other thoughts?

In Brother vs. Brother -I did find one useful strategy for Horus - drop pod down to the SE spaceport - there are no Imperial Heroes nearby or strong units, so he's practically immune to damage, it gets him in the game contributing hero cards and using his special ability, and it stops the Imperial player using Boarding Action to threaten him with an assassination victory.

The only major threat is Sky Fortress Rises or Titans Walk the Earth, for the Imperials to get close to him, but otherwise he's as safe as on the Vengeful spirit and actually being useful.

Sky fortress after a mobilize order can be devastating, though. The order wouldn't even need to be played on the strat map like you would need to pull off a boarding action because you would just move them into a space adjacent to the spaceport which has no activation token.

Of course, if Horus takes the last spaceport with a drop pod, you don't need to worry about the sky fortress!

Not sure Sky fortress is that much of a threat- it only lets you move to friendly areas (so if traitors have cleared out that quadrant through corruption & co-existence battles) then there will be no landing sites for it. Secondly, Sky Fortress only comes in mid game, so Horus will be safe the first 4 events, and after that his mobility (if you drop him with a Thunderhawk) is going to outpace the one-shot Sky Fort.

Flyers cannot transport Heroes RAW.

Correct, TH can transport Titans, but no Heroes!

Which, by the by, is just a bad rule. Heroes count as units for movement purposes, and we play it that way (meaning they can be transported, and take a spot, just like units), and we have close games and haven't seen any balance issues.

You're right, I was thinking it was any neutral or friendly space.
