The shared Eminent Domain Kickstarter pledge worked pretty well, massive production delays aside.

Is anyone interested in doing the same for Kings of Air and Steam?

As with Eminent Domain, there's a 6-pack option with a hefty discount attached. Total cost including shipping would be around $38 each ($230/6).

Someone's trying to organize an Australia-wide group pledge, but it would obviously be preferable if we had enough people to do it locally.

The draft rulebook (with hideous prototype art) is available -- it's basically a light train game where you get money by shipping goods around the board. The novelty is that to ship goods via train you first need to pick them up from the factory in your private airship, using pre-programmed movement à la RoboRally.

Ooh, I was looking at this one and thought the game looked neat, but thought the cost of the single game plus internatonal shipping was too high to justify backing it...count me in!

I wasn't involved in the Eminent Domain order, how does this work? One person makes the pledge and the rest of us pay our share to that person I assume?

What fun!

3 of 6!

And yes, last time Simon just paid the whole thing and we gave him the money when the games arrived. I'm happy to do it that way, though of course if anyone wants to pay in advance then that's fine too -- it's like giving your future self a free game!

Yay, 6 copies: srand, Amiguero, Tegs, Nights, sumbloke, BlueMountain. I'll go make the pledge in a minute.

I hadn't really thought about it since AUD:USD is so close to 1:1, but yes, it is in USD.

If I can play your copy of 1830! (Getting a bit tired of only playing short games...)

Back on topic, I have made the pledge. It includes 6 names in the rulebook as supporters, so some time in the next month those concerned should let me know how they want to be styled. Given the theme, a ridiculous steampunk version of your name may be appropriate.

Thanks for doing this Sam ... let me know when they hit your credit card and I'll settle with you at the next meet up.

Did you know that you can play 1830 on the PC via DosBox? The AI is very good and you can play a game in much less than 8 hours. The graphics and sound are very dated though.

Thanks for the reminder! If I can get it to work with Dosbox for Android then I'll be playing that a lot.

I didn't realise there was a DosBox port for Android. Very cool! Let me know if you get it working.

So, when I win this, do I still have to pay my share of the backed copies? JK

I'm quite excited about this! I just went ahead and backed the kickstater project for $1, so I can keep up to date with all the updates and backer only posts.

How's this sound for a steampunk name: Madame Tegsly Smith.
(Smith will actually be my sirname when my Fiancee and I get married, and it seems more steampunk than Kelly, I think)

Hopefully you don't all win free copies -- I'm the one going to win the grand prize, obviously.

Sorry about the updates, though I don't think any are for backers only yet, are they? If anyone else wants them, just let me know your email and I'll forward them straight away as they come in.

I like the name!

Ah well there you go. Oh well, for $1 I get the backer-only ones as well (if they have any)...plus the warm fuzzy feeling when I ticked the box saying I wanted no reward and just wanted to help out the project

For those not following the project updates, the $25,000 milestone has been passed so the "Mafia Guys" faction will be included.

(For those who also haven't read the rules, each faction comes with two character cards; you get to pick one of the two, which gives you a special ability like cheaper depots, more movement etc. So this addition adds a bit more variety.)

In other KoAaS news, two or three more sample character cards were also added to the game gallery here, but were inexplicably taken down. I think one of them had a moustache, if that helps.

I've put $39 aside in a spare bank account ready to pay my share for this. Sam, since I'm probably not going to get the chance to actually meet you until the new year (at either gungahlin library or CanCon), Do you want to GM me your bank details and I'll netbank it to you?

Tegsly Emmarington Kellysworth
(just trying on a new steampunk name )
