Hi,

I was hoping someone could suggest a website or service for me. Basically, I'm looking for an asynchronous online gaming service. Let me explain...

The boyfriend and I are regular board game geeks on the weekends, but during the week he's working out of town, and I'm in long hours at the office. So, what we're looking for is either an email or web based game where we could log on seperately at different times of the day, and make our next move.

I've read about PBM (play-by-email) games, but haven't been able to find 2-player versions. I also know there are online board game sites (such as BSW), but I haven't been able to find one that will allow you to save a game state so you can pick it up later.

So, am I pipedreaming? Does anybody know of such a service?

I'm sure that there are several sites like this around. The one that I'm personally familiar with is: http://acts.warhorsesim.com/.

The site is designed for exactly what you're talking about: Letting two people in different locations play a game together, without requiring them both to be online at the same time.

It's primarily devoted to war games like Paths of Glory that might be more complicated and intensive than what you're really looking for. But it also has a "Generic PBEM Module" that you might be able to adapt for use with German games.

Check out ItsYourTurn at http://itsyourturn.com/ and Little Golem at http://www.littlegolem.net/

Also, consider Vassal, Cyberboard and ADC2, all of which allow you to play wargames asynchronously by email.

And finally, there are lots of sites devoted to individual games, such as Cyclop (I've played Clans there) http://www.cycloopspellen.nl/ and SpielByWeb http://www.spielbyweb.com/index.php?lang=E

Do a little searching in the PBEM forum for more.
