So I called my wife in from the other room to show her this Batman snuggie. She took a look and asked with a concerned face "Is this a joke? You want one for Christmas, right?"

I smiled & replied "Of course not, it's not Captain America."

There's something oddly postmodern about when a society embraces kitsch on a mass scale.

You know, they film it in front of a live audience. If the show didn't do that, and still had the laugh track, then I'd be annoyed.

I hate laugh tracks. As much as I love the content in Kids in the Hall, I cringe when watching it. The only place where I thought that a laugh track worked was in Get a Life! just because it was so fake and out of place that it added to the awkwardness.

According to Wikipedia, we have an eccentric named Charles "Charley" Douglass to thank for supplying a track to just about every studio comedy that ever used one.

Also in that article is a simple disclaimer that "laugh track" doesn't apply to the recorded laughter on shows that shoot before an audience. Nothing prevents the sweetening of actual laughter with the canned variety, of course, but I think BBT has a sufficiently enthusiastic following that Lorre needn't bother with such tactics.
