I don't want to break any site rules or annoy anyone, so where is the permitted place to post about kickstarter projects launching?

My kickstarter is for metal coins. They come in Gold (brass), Silver (nickel plated brass), and Copper (copper plated zinc). Here are some renderings of the coins.

There are people on BGG and other gaming sites always clamoring for metal coins, so I figured I'd be the one to do it. There is almost no profit margin at the minimum order, but I'm doing this because I think it should be done (and hey, maybe there will be a huge outcome and I'll make some decent profit).

I'd like to post it all over the place, but I can see how if every person with a kickstarter did that it would get annoying. So, where should I post to make sure everyone sees it, but also not annoy everyone?

Edit: I've started the project! You can find it here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1095993227/realm-coins?r...

press release maybe? Rather then go into the forum I usually hit the "recent" button, so I don't really notice which area people post their projects in.

I'm aware of campaign coins, but thanks for spreading information. Campaign coins are far more expensive, oddly shaped, and have numbers on them. The shipping is also very expensive from Australia to the US. My coins will be roughly 1/3 the price including shipping and they come in leather bags and wooden treasure chests. It was nice of you to post, and make sure I was informed about per-existing coins.

It looks like the Press Releases forum is the spot to post when I launch.

campaign coins are extremely pricey. how big are yours going to be? have you considered tapering them slightly at the rim, or ridging them like quarters so they stack?

There seems to be a lot of kickstarter ads on bgg. You could try that.

Well, you have 1 person going to order them at least...

Press Release.

Also, I would recommend posting a question in the DIY forum asking for suggestions regarding the coins. You'll get interest from other people andante more suggestions on how to make the better.

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

"Extremely". Huh. That was polite of you. They are ludicrously expensive.

Well, looks likes there is some interest bubbling already.

I'm waiting on Kickstarter to accept my submission. I have the video, rewards tiers, and all the logistics figured out (which was a lot bigger of a pain in the ass than I thought).

The coins are almost the exact same size as a US Quarter. 25mm diameter and 1.5mm thick (~1 inch and 1/16 inch thick).

They're stackable as much as a quarter is stackable. there are no ridges like a pocker chip because the art in the middle would get in the way.

They weigh almost the exact same as a US quarter. A US quarter weighs 5.67 grams and these coins are 12lbs/1000 according to the manufacturer ;which converts to 5.44 grams. My postal scale says both a quarter and one of these coins is 5 grams (because it rounds off to the gram). They feel nice and solid.

Thankfully flat rate shipping exists.

It's been 24 hours since I've submitted to kickstarter. I'm really amped up to start this thing. I wonder if they take the weekend off?

Subscribed to this thread... Please post again when the kickstarter becomes active.

I'm one of those who really liked the idea of campaign coins, but found them to be prohibitively expensive...

This is a great idea, hopefully you can get the word out. However, the designs are very "medieval-ish European"... perhaps if these are successful you could check out making another set(s) with a broader appeal for different themes?
