I had it with Carcassonne (my first Euro). I had it with Brass, with Agricola and with Dominant Species to name just a few. But I haven't had that feeling for a while. Please recommend a game that's going to blow my mind again.

Like a kinky gaming love beast I'm up for any suggestions (good or bad).

Suddenly a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

This. It is the only new game I've played in a while that gave me that feeling. I would even nominate it for best new game of the year.

Trajan

I see you played Luna once and rated it a 9. Feld designed both and Trajan may very well be his masterpiece. I've only played it once so far, but I can't stop thinking about it. mind=blown.

Hegemonic!

Of course I'm biased since I designed it ... and while it is still being playtested (and PnP files are available until the end of this week) I'm hoping to have it picked up for publication next year or self-published next year.

It is a similar scale of game mechanically to dominat species (although I've only read the rules to DS). There are some interesting euro-mechanics at work combined with a lot of direct conflict/interaction over the galaxy board.

You can also look at Eclipse assuming you can find a copy. Less abstract perhaps than Hegemonic. By all accounts it is a fantastic game.

Cosmic Encounter's a solid game, but I really don't think it's what the OP is looking for, judging by his ratings. I would guess the OP would rate it a 6 or a 7.

Aye, perhaps. I was looking for something unlike what he had in his collection, though I really did brush through quickly.

Case Blue!!!

Okay - I had to go there.

Seriously - if you love Domninant Species, why don't you jump onto one of Chad Jensen's masterpieces, Combat Commander: Europe?

I LOVE this game. Tons of replay, tons of expansions, tons of fun.

Great stuff.

Wow, you've got all these economic engine / brain busting games that you rank so high... you need a change of pace.

I suggest Space Alert. Timed cooperative throw-down with you and your friends against the game. Insanity at its best, and so much fun. Unless you absolutely hate working in teams, you'll love it.

+1 Twilight Struggle.

La Città may also be worth a look.

Edit: I also hear Reef Encounter is a genuine mind-bender.

I think you seriously need these games:

Airlines Europe
Biblios
Metropolys
Yspahan

After looking at your Top Ten and Hot Ten, I think you'll really like these games PLUS you'll get a lot of play out of them.

Someone else mentioned Macao which I adore, too, but I don't know if you'll get as much play out of it after seeing your lists.

Does Airlines work with 2? Sorry, curious.

To add my 2 cents (they aren't worth much), games that made me want to play them over and over, other than ones you appear to already own:

Macao
Cyclades
