Here's your tough choice for today:

1. Lose all your games and be unable to replace them or ever play those games again (you can still buy and play different games, but you can never again play the games you lost; e.g., lose Agricola, and you can never play Agricola again).

2. Lose the ability to ever play games again with any of the people you currently play games with (you can still do other stuff with those people, and you can find new gaming partners). (You yourself do not count as part of the group; you can still play solitaire until you find new opponents.)

Poll
This is a stickup! Do you give up your games or your group (under conditions specified above)?
Take my games.
Take my group.

I only have twenty or so games that I really love, so my choice is easy. I enjoy playing with my current group a great deal. However, if I had several hundred games I liked, that would be a much tougher choice. I wonder what that threshold number would be? 200? 300?

Too bad I won't be able to ever play games with my wife again, but we don't play that often anyway, and we'll find other things to do.

Most of my gaming is solitaire anyhow, so it's an easy choice for me.

Yeah. While I like my current gaming group, there are more worthy opponents in the world than there are worthy games to play them with.

It means that you cannot play with yourself anymore. Fortunately you're married.

I'm kind of shocked by the current results! I would *really* miss some of the games I've played, but they're not, y'know, people.

I don't have any solo games, so my group any day of the week over the games. No people == No games. Easier to replace games.

But you can't play any of the games you lost ever again.

Persuading my most frequent gaming partner (my wife) to play new games is tricky at the best of times.... but even so this would probably be easier than finding a new wife!

You can have my 200+ games. My two most frequent gaming partners are my sons. We can find some new games to play.

...my problem is it took me decades to find the best friends to game with while having an instant list of games that I think would be fun to try tomorrow...

Ah, but the poll says you'll still be able to do other things with that group if they're willing - just not play any more games with them. They're not going to die or anything. If they were, I'd demand a much higher asking price for getting rid of all my games... laugh

Ahem, jk.

And only three of them are willing to game with you. Maybe you should rethink your stance.

Hmm, that's harder as I'm my primary opponent in any game I play. In order to win I not only need to beat the opponents across the table, I have to beat myself as well.

You're in luck. There's a special clause in the OP:
Quote:
(You yourself do not count as part of the group; you can still play solitaire until you find new opponents.)

So, no matter which you choose, you get to keep yourself as a primary opponent.
