...which pretty much raises the question: is she the best girlfriend, or the best girlfriend ever?

Since we're not spending the holidays together, we opened presents tonight. She made me a board game bag of her own design. It's massive: big enough to fit a minimum of 4 normal-sized games plus some smaller boxes, or even the Carcassonne Big Box!

It is gray waxed canvas and a really beautiful orange and brown canvas lining (plus on the front flap).

Anyways, I'm super excited and thought I'd share her craftsmanship with the board gaming community. I can't wait to take this to game night =D

That's very cool! I'm very jealous. But be careful of injuring your shoulder carrying it that way!

Super cool Christmas present! Handmade by someone you love is always 10000 times better than something picked up at Walmart

Added to the geeklist! Also, I'm very aware of how awesome she is, but we're not in any major rush =)

I'm sure she could. If you're really interested, PM me. She already sells handbags anyways...

VERY cool! You better not loose this girl! If she supports your board gaming hobby she is most likely a keeper and deserves to be treasured. Merry Christmas!

Awesome bag, great for transporting boardgames to other places. I just re-use a thick plastic bag.

It looks like you will have more than just board games weighing down on your shoulders. meeple

Yesterday I got a bag like this one. I think it's a bit bigger. I really didn't know where I could use it for. Didn't even think about transporting games. modest

Thanks for showing.

My wife has been offering to do something similar for me, but I had two concerns.

1. Varying game box sizes.
2. Keeping the game horizontal and not on their side.

She has been talking about making a similar bag with "adjustable" insides so that each game would be separated from the next by a layer of padding, and so that different width games could be given side padding if needed. (The side would fold down to reveal all the games, kind of like a pizza delivery thermal bag.)

I'm concerned that they would knock into each other during transit otherwise, thus messing up the boxes.

I really should let her do this for me and post the results.

Definitely! We talked a bit about doing padding inside, but I decided that I wasn't particularly worried about box-on-box contact, so we went with simpler.

I've seen padded bags with insides that can be moved around via velcro and I imagine something like that would work great!

I find it hard to do any more than darn socks, so I admire all people who can pull this off. I'd so love a velvet dice bag after my own pattern.

That's a very nice bag. I recently mentioned to friends that there should be a market for just such a thing. The only concern I would have is ensuring the flap sufficiently covers the inside compartment to prevent rain from getting in. Thanks for sharing.
