Morphology is a party game where you use the included components to "create" the word you are trying to get your teammates to guess. You cannot talk, act out or use the components to act out the word.

As far as the components go, there are a lot: plastic cubes, glass stones, wooden pawns, a string, round rubber o-rings, mini popsicle sticks, and a wooden barrel-like piece that looks like it belongs on the end of a drawsting for window blinds. There is also the board, 4 frogs for team tokens and a sand-timer.

To boil it down, each team is trying to get to the finish by getting their teammates to guess the word on their card. The game is further complicated with dice rolls, which change the rules that the morphologist has to work under...like using only 5 pieces or allowing the opposing team(s) to intercept the word.

Each card has 2 words on it, easy and hard. We played where the morphologist creating the word got to choose which one they wanted to use from the card. Occasionally the hard word would be easier to do than the easy word.

We broke up into 2 teams of 3. The game started out a bit slow as we were feeling out how to use the components. After the 2nd word card though, all fun broke loose. It was hilarious watching what someone would do with the components and then hear them try to explain what they were doing after the time ran out.

The game seemed to go by faster than we thought, but that was probably because we were having so much fun with it. We ended up playing 4 games, switching teammates up for freshness.

I enjoy the occasional party game, and Morphology is definitely one that we will play again.
