When the Earthquake card is played, all the cards are shuffled and re-dealt to all remaining players. Here's the question from our recent game...

When dealing the cards, does every player receive the same number of cards they had or are cards redistributed evenly among the remaining players.

We have played that all cards are shuffled.. and equally distributed. Thus.. you may not get the same number of cards back (more or less).

When we played a demo game with one of the Moostache guys at Origins this year, I'm pretty sure he explained that you deal the cards out evenly - a nice way to equalize things if someone was close to going out.

Yes, the cards are dealt "evenly", but if the number of cards is uneven (due to worm and bird, or lost and reversal), then the amount players will receive back is not the same either. They deal the remaining cards starting with the player who would be next (depending on the current direction of play). That means, if the number is uneven, the dealer will run out of cards and at least s/he will have one card less than the next player/s. After re-dealing, players might find they have more cards than they had before, or less.
