My Christmas present had seen 5 battles already over the last few days and in every conflict of mission 1 the Wretch had been triumphant. This was the battle that finally showed those aliens who's Solar System they were actually in! This battle takes place between me and my wife. We fought the first mission last night for the first time and she easily beat my ISN force... tonight was the rematch.

Apologies for the blurry photos they were taken on my mobile without the benefit of extra lighting.

The ISN launched the Everest to begin with and could do little else but assign two nukes and Bronson Skiles to it. The Wretch launched Vapor's Fate and added some Shield Siphons and Krall Draxus to command. Next the ISN launched the Torrent while the Wretch powered forward towards the centre of the board. A squad of Red Tougu appeared behind the flagship and rushed forwards to escort it. After moving the fleet towards the edge of the sector and launching its own squadron of sparrows the ISN prepared for the inevitable clash with Vapor's Fate and her entourage.

As the Wretch fleet moved closer the ISN used the advatage of the Torrent's additional range to unleash an alpha strike against the flagship, Vapor's Fate. Unfortunately the two nukes exploded harmlessly against her shields but enough damage was done to severely cripple the vessel. The ISN could taste victory!

Unfortunately the counter attack from the wretch was lethal. Two of the Sparrows were totally obliterated and one badly crippled, by the combined fire of Vapor's Fate, Tes Kio and the Red Tougus.

The Commander of the ISN fleet ordered his vessels to ignore the smaller alien vessels and to focus their efforts on the alien flagship. The final sparrow tried to lure the enemy fighters away. The Vapor's Fate was destroyed...
... and the Tougus took the bait.

Even against three Tougus the plucky Sparrow pilot held his own for a while... even landing a shot on the lead Tougu in his efforts to keep the fighters away from the Everest. Everest launched her final ship, the ISN Barrage, just as the Wretch forces hurry the So Bwa Tet into the conflict.

Torrent is badly damaged by the Tes Kio and the last of the Sparrows is destroyed. ISN Barrage manages to down the Tes Kio with a lucky shot. So Bwa Tet rushes to assist the Tougus in this desperate fight.

The Red Tougu have seen their error in leaving the larger ships alone and now swoop in to attack the Barrage.

So Bwa Tet arrives to bolster the Wretch attack and manages to finish off the crippled Torrent. The Red Tougus cause massive damage to the Barrage while the Everest can merely cause light damage to the So Bwa Tet.

Combined fire from the Barrage and the Everest manages to destroy the So Bwa Tet and a Tougu fighter.

The Red Tougus achieve a spectral resurgence and the whole squadron zeros in on the Barrage, causing her to explode to the cheers of the alien commander (The cheers were almost as loud as when both my nukes managed to miss the Vapor's Fate earlier!)

The Everest managed to down two of the Tougus leaving one Wretch pilot looking very sorry for himself facing off with a completely scratch-free ISN Everest.

Who would win?

Fortunately the Wretch had run out of spectral resurgence... 'phew'. The conclusion was fairly inevitable.....

And don't come back!

Job done.... the ISN are not completely toothless in this scenario after all

Great report! My son and I just finished our first game of BG, and we played the same mission. Like in your game, the ISN forces triumphed over the hideous Wretch, which in this case meant I actually beat my son at a game (he usually beats me when we play Heroscape). At the end, the Everest and the Torrent were going to be for quite a long stay in spacedock for repairs, but the Wretch task force was obliterated. Fun game!
