"Michigan's Lake Superior State University is featuring those phrases in its annual List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness. The 2012 list, released Friday, was compiled by the university from nominations submitted from across the globe.

What else do the syntactical Scrooges want to cast out with the good cheer in the new year? The list also includes "occupy," "ginormous," "man cave" and "the new normal.""

What words would you ban?

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again.

I would like to banish "brosef" or, I suppose, any commonly used frat term with the "bro" prefix (i.e. bromance, bromosexual, etc.). For the betterment of mankind.

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

These banned words for 2012. I don't understand most of them. This is 2005 isn't it?

The phrase "Good times" that everyone at work who's under 20 seems to need to say whenever anything is a little bit difficult or inconvenient.

Ginormously amazing. I can't believe as I occupy my man cave that I'm reading this. Is this the new normal?

Personally I would ban the words "reality TV". Mind you that would likely require banning reality TV but it's something I'm willing to sacrifice. Actually I'd be glad to sacrifice it with an ax.

Creepy - for being terribly misused, overused and abused in every possible context. Albeit I'm not a native speaker, this word creeps me out.

Can we ban percentages, because 110% has been bugging me for some time now.

I understand that there's a way to use that in a mathematically and/or logically correct fashion. However, it almost never happens in actual conversation (or sports commentating).

Lot's of people on the east coast say "have a goo one" - leaving out the "d". I'd like to ban that NOW.
