I have a Google Offers credit with an online printer that does t-shirts. I put this design together, what do y'all think?

Suggestions and feedback would be much appreciated.

thanks!

i'd drop the 18xx text and the train silhouette. the people most likely to appreciate the shirt will be 18xx gamers and they won't need those elements to identify the design as being train related.

Yes, I know a proper 18XX tile should have a tile number.

Can you include a red offboard?

Is the train logo from a copyrighted source? (And like the poster above, I do think it's extraneous.)

Here's one I came up with back when I ran a t-shirt company. Never got around to printing it!

While those non-gamers who don't may actually think you are referring to a completely different (and rather adult) subject with the 18XX there...though they may puzzle about what hexes and trains have to do with it for a bit.

I disagree with the earlier comments. I prefer the design with the text and the train silhouette. The train gives context to the hex design and the text will help the T-shirt be understood by gamers who have heard of 18xx but haven't yet given it a go.

We're stuck with the "adult" misinterpretation of "18xx" whether or not we put it on a T-shirt.

it's '18xx' not '18xxx', I don't quite see that big a chance of the adult misintrepretation...

I agree with this. I think the Train balances the composition too.

You have a good idea. You should make the design that pleases you most and have it printed up. I bet you'll sell out your print run.

Asking for feedback on creative issues on the web is futile. You'll just get a lot of suggestions and no agreement.

True.

That said, I think it should look more like this:

How about a warrior princess on a flying dragon as a familiar for the train?

Nope, I'd just wear the T-shirt. :-)

BTW, if you go with a print shop that does more than just T-shirts, tote bags for games would be awesome.

Thanks again for all the comments. I just made the order. Here's the final design that I went with. I'll reply to this thread when the order comes in and I'll let you know how they look.

...or a Wolf? If it had a Wolf and a full moon I would buy one.

If it had a Wolf, a full moon, and a Native American ghost spirit I would buy 10.

You should also post to the 18xx mailing list.

And, as many people have said, or should have, thank you for doing this!

Good Job Matt,

Having them printed up is a great idea I think. But you have not said what you are going to do with them?

Are these for your personal collection or will there be an opportunity for others to acquire them? Is there a marketting plan?

If so how, when and where will they be available?

Mike

I had enough credit to order several of them. However, this is the first time I have gotten anything printed from this company - so I don't know how well they will turn out. I'm definitely keeping one for myself but if they look good, I would be happy to sell the others. I opted for the slowest shipping option so it will be about 3 weeks before they arrive.

I like the final product.

My preferences (not that they matter at this point):

-Include a brown simple tile. Perhaps just underneath the green 23, with a spur pointing up.
-Change the grey 80 to something else, or, failing that, make the 50 into a 40 splat. Otherwise it reminds me of 18AL.
-Turning the X into a K so that one of the branches gets screwed would be amusing.
-Tokens! Even just some color, no symbols.
-Red off-board should have a value

Looks good as-is, though!
